Kimberly Nikole:

They say she doesn't move. They say she just sits there Raggedy and wide-eyed, stitched into a permanent smile. But the nurses at St Vincent's swore they saw her legs swing off the edge of the bed. Once her arms were found crossed when no one had touched her. They thought it was a prank, until the red writing Appeared on the walls. Donna found her face down one morning, stuffed in a corner, like someone or something had thrown her. But the worst part, the parchment. They didn't own parchment. They didn't own parchment. And they certainly didn't own a pen that wrote in what looked like rust, though it smelled distinctly of iron and copper and rot.

Kimberly Nikole:

When Lou, a friend of Donna's roommate, mocked the doll, laughed at her stitched grin and called her a child's toy. He woke up frozen that night, paralysis. The doll stood at the foot of his bed. He swore, she blinked. Then came the burning Seven claw marks slashed deep into his chest, hot, red and violent, the kind of wounds you'd expect from something not quite human. The Warrens said it wasn't the doll. The doll was just the vessel. The demon inside was looking for souls to keep. And now she's on tour. And wherever she goes, the accidents follow.

This is Talk Spooky With Me, where host Kimberly Nikole shares the weird, the haunted and the stories that'll leave you sleeping with the lights on this is talk spooky with me, and tonight I'm your host, kimberly Nicole.

Kimberly Nikole:

And tonight we're opening the case of Annabelle Not the Hollywood diva with porcelain skin and glassy eyes, but the real Annabelle, a tattered Raggedy Ann doll said to harbor something truly inhuman. She's touring the country and leaving chaos in her wake, and some say she's not done collecting souls. Before she became the world's most feared haunted object, annabelle had humble beginnings. Let's talk about Raggedy Ann humble beginnings. Let's talk about Raggedy Ann. In 1915, cartoonist Johnny Gruel had a daughter named Marcella. His daughter brought him a faceless rag doll she found in the attic. He drew a sweet, simple face on the worn fabric and named her Raggedy Ann. Simple face on the worn fabric and named her Raggedy Ann. In 1918, the doll starred in her own series of whimsical children's books, where the toys came to life when humans weren't watching. She was innocence stitched in cloth, but somewhere along the line something twisted. Today Raggedy Ann is in the National Toy Hall of Fame, a symbol of childhood joy, but one particular doll bearing her image, she's anything but joyful.

Kimberly Nikole:

In 1970, a mother bought a vintage Raggedy Ann from a hobby shop for her daughter, donna, a nursing student. Her daughter, donna, a nursing student. What followed reads like a horror novel. Donna and her roommate Angie noticed the doll shifting positions, then locations. Then came the notes, childlike handwriting on parchment they didn't own. And then the blood Crimson stains appeared on the doll's hands and chest. A medium was called to the house for a seance. The medium claimed the spirit of a young girl named Annabelle Higgins had attached to the doll. But what followed was anything but childlike or innocent. Lou, donna's friend, began experiencing terrifying episodes Sleep, paralysis, claw marks slashed deep into his chest. This wasn't a ghost, this wasn't a spirit. This was an infestation. An infestation, according to Ed and Lorraine Warren, it was a demonic entity seeking a human host.

Kimberly Nikole:

Annabelle is not possessed in a traditional sense. She is manipulated by an inhuman, demonic entity which does four things One pretends to be a lost child. This is to gain emotional sympathy. 2. Infests a home or person. 3. Escalates From notes and movement to physical attacks. 4. Spreads. Her influence grows with each encounter.

Kimberly Nikole:

The Warrens insisted spirits possess people, not objects. But a demonic force can use a doll like Annabelle. The Warrens insisted spirits possess people, not objects. But a demonic force can use a doll like Annabelle as a conduit, a puppet with darker intent. Annabelle left with Ed and Lorraine Warren. Donna and Angie had enough To contain her.

Kimberly Nikole:

The Warrens placed Annabelle in a special case, soaked in holy water, lined with prayers and guarded with crosses. But even they admitted the goal wasn't to destroy, it was simply to suppress. Their successor, daniel Rivera, continues those efforts today. I must tell you there is no historical record of a girl named Annabelle Higgins. No birth certificate, no graves, no tragic backstory. The Warrens believed this name was a deception crafted by the demon. To gain trust, donna and Angie's compassion became the open door. The most chilling answer to who was Annabelle Higgins is that she never existed. Is that she never existed? With the Warrens Occult Museum closed, daniel Rivera designed a secure travel case for Annabelle Reinforced wood crosses carved into the sides and Prayers stitched into the lining. The goal Education To share the Warrens' legacy with the public. Thus began the Devils on the Run Tour. But Annabelle doesn't travel quietly In New Orleans.

Kimberly Nikole:

Just days after Annabelle's arrival, nottoway Plantation caught fire under mysterious circumstances. A TikTok user claimed to see the doll's case rattling on its own. That same night, meanwhile, across town, prisoners escaped from Orleans Parish Prison Another eerie coincidence or something else? Locals began connecting the dots and once again Annabelle was blamed. You may have noticed that in this episode I have brought up Ed and Lorraine Warren multiple times. But who are Ed and Lorraine Warren? But who are Ed and Lorraine Warren? Let me tell you they are legendary to some, but they are controversial to many. They founded the New England Society for Psychic Research in 1952. But critics point to their lack of scientific training, exaggerated claims like Amityville, unverified relics in the occult museum, hollywood's dramatization of their legacy and, of course, personal scandals, including serious allegations against Ed Warren, which I will not go into because this is not an episode about the Warrens. This is an episode about Annabelle.

Kimberly Nikole:

So were they truth seekers or storytellers, or something in between? Or something in between? Regardless, without them, annabelle would never have become legend. Annabelle's tour just so happens to coincide with the release of the next Annabelle movie Coincidence? Not everyone thinks so. Former Paranormal State star Ryan Buell has resurfaced. Normal State star Ryan Buell has resurfaced and he's made himself a shadowy part of Adam L's tour. Storm of fraud accusations and personal scandal. Buell is back with TikToks full of cryptic messages and vague warnings. The leaked footage of Annabelle at all the locations that she has been at have been posted on TikTok by Ryan Buell himself. Some say he's exposing the truth. Others say he's piggybacking off Annabelle's fame for a comeback. No-transcript. He's part of the chaos. Now I encourage you to look up Ryan Buell and his history and come up with your own thoughts and feelings about his connection to the Annabelle case. It is not for me to judge a person, their intentions or their actions. You be the judge, you be the jury. You come up with your own conclusions on that matter.

Kimberly Nikole:

In San Antonio, fans lined up for hours to see Annabelle at the haunted Black Swan Inn. Some walked away, curious, others drenched in dread. Two guests fainted inside the venue. Phones glitched, lights dimmed so much for chat streaks Across TikTok and Instagram. The stories stack up Nausea near the case, dizzy spells, nightmares and a creeping sense that something followed them home. Skeptics call it group hysteria, believers call it a warning. But one thing's certain Annabelle is just a doll. Maybe she's something far more ancient, maybe she's something we just can't understand yet yet. But if she can't move, why does everything around her? This has been Talk Spooky with me. I'm Kimberly Nicole, and wherever you are tonight, may your doll stay still and your shadows stay silent.
